Supporting Connecting Narborough’s "Light Up Narborough" Event

At More Than Just a Gift at Narborough Hall, we’re passionate about supporting our local community. So we’re especially happy to be involved in Connecting Narborough’s "Light Up Narborough" event, a festive celebration that brings the entire community together. As a proud founding member of Connecting Narborough, I’ve been busy in the background helping to bring this vision to life, from designing and printing the posters and Elf Trail to brainstorming ideas to make this occasion super-special. After the success of last year’s event, we’re building on it the make the occasion bigger and better this time around, with more local businesses involved and more local people enjoying the activities. Here’s how we’re shining a light on Narborough this Christmas season.

Lighting Up the Village Together

Local community group Connecting Narborough is inviting everyone—residents and businesses alike—to illuminate our village in festive cheer. The event is packed with activities and opportunities to explore everything our vibrant village has to offer. Whether it’s participating in the Elf Trail, admiring the Christmas Tree Festival, or simply enjoying a cosy drink at one of the cafes or a meal at the pub, there’s something for everyone.

 

Here’s what’s happening:

• Bring your lanterns or torches, wear your bright clothes, and visit the village.

• Elf Trail: Find 12 mischievous elves hidden around the village and win prizes! Pick up your search card from Narborough Hall, Dales Café, or The Coffee Club.

• Christmas Tree Festival at All Saints Church: Open until 4pm, this stunning display of 40 decorated trees will warm your heart. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite!

• Bazaar and Colouring Competition: Head to the library from 2.30pm to 4.30pm for festive fun.

• Pop up Shops and Stalls: Discover locally made treats and crafts at stalls in these place

• Festive Singing: Sing along in these locations in the village:

  • Royal Court at 3pm

  • Library 3.45pm

  • Narborough Hall at 4.30pm

• Naughty Elf Spotting: Can you find where the Naughty Elf is causing mischief?

• Light Displays: Enjoy the festive creativity and Christmas lights round the village.

• Swing Into Christmas with Gareth John: Join us at Narborough Hall for a free live performance. Gareth will be singing festive classics while we serve free mince pies and mulled wine. From 4.30pm.

And there’s free parking at Weavers Court and Leicester Road car parks, making it easy to enjoy everything.

Our Role in the Festivities

At More Than Just a Gift, we’re dedicated to making this event unforgettable:

• Elf Trail Headquarters: Pick up your search cards here, and don’t forget to drop them off in our postbox to claim your free mini gift and enter the prize draw.

• Festive Shopping: Browse our range of thoughtfully curated Christmas gifts and cards. As it’s Small Business Saturday, it’s the perfect time to shop local and support our village businesses.

• Promoting Local Businesses: We’re shining a spotlight on the incredible independent businesses, shops, cafes and organisations that make Narborough so special. From Dales Café to The Coffee Club, the Community Library, and so many more. Each offers something unique to enjoy this festive season.

• Special Neighbour Christmas Cards: We’ve designed and printed free cards to encourage people to connect with their neighbours. These cards will be available to pick up at Narborough Hall and we’ll also be distributing them around the village. Use them to say hello or start a conversation with someone who lives close to you —let’s build a stronger, more connected community.
